"Adoption brothers" - Matthew and AJ
You may remember that we made our adoption trip with another couple who adopted a little boy from the same Kyrgyz baby house that Matthew came from. On our way home from our vacation in Georgia, we made a side trip to go and pay a quick visit to Mark, Stephanie and AJ. (This happened all the way back in the beginning of June, but I've been wanting to blog about it.)
It was SO nice to see the two boys together again. AJ is doing really well. He looks fantastic, as do his parents. Both little guys are a bit small for their age and I found it so funny that they were really the same height when standing, but not so much when they were sitting... Matthew has a long torso and AJ has long legs! :)
Stephanie had make this adorable sign and put together some gifts and cupcakes to celebrate both Matthew and AJ's 2nd birthdays, which are almost exactly 1 month a part. In the photo below, while AJ plays contentedly with his new toy, you'll see that no present could possibly divert Matthew's attention from a chocolate cupcake. (Those of you who know Matthew, are not suprised by that, I'm sure!)
As two year olds, the boys didn't play WITH each other very much yet (more parallel playing), but it was just so wonderful to see AJ and his loving parents again - almost exactly a year after our life-changing adventure.
We're so grateful that God made our paths cross with the Renier family! It was a pleasure and a joy to share our adoption journey with them a year ago, and we thank God for continued friendship with them!
