silly baby!

Well, I had to log on and post a few silly pictures of Nathan. While sitting up, he recently tipped over near a toy that apparently has a sharp edge. He received the lovely red scratch you see below on his forehead - no, that's not a unibrow. So I was right in the middle of feeding him his cereal... one spoon went in the mouth, I turned to reload. And just that quickly he fell asleep. I didn't even realize he was tired, but apparently he was - very sleepy. Good grief! And, well, I guess if he stayed awake during meals, he wouldn't have to try and make meals out of other things! Ah, what a kid!

Lehr Spring Birthday Bash

We have 5 spring birthdays in the Lehr family - and only 3 dates! Tim and his mom were both born on April 9th. Tim's brother Kirk and Kirk's daughter, Ruth, celebrate April 21st. And then our Matthew was born on May 7th. Each year we gather to celebrate, and it is always wonderful to spend time with family! Tim's mom is so good at thinking of cute things for the kids to do, so this year the kids also had an egg hunt with prizes. Here are a few pictures from our weekend trip to Michigan - enjoy!

Easter 2010

We kept Easter celebrations pretty simple this year due to a bit of poor health in our house. I have been struggling with allergies on and off this spring, and Tim came down quite sick the day before Easter. We were almost ready to panic thinking that illness might ruin our vacation plans, but if you read the previous posts - thank God, it didn't! We made it to church Easter Sunday, and it was great to focus on the resurrection of our Savior. I dressed my boys like a couple of old guys, and I think they looked quite handsome nonetheless! :) We took a 9 minute video of Matthew hunting for Easter eggs and the boys' basket, but it's too much to share here, so enjoy a few photos instead...

I can't help but think back to last Easter: we announced to our church family that we were pregnant (I think it's the "big news and getting bigger" post from 2009, if you never read it - it still gives me goose bumps), and this year we got to hold our two precious little miracles for our Easter family photo! I say it all the time, but ... Only God could've written this story!
To HIM be all the praise!

Playing 'til we drop!

It seems to me that the last day of vacation always has the best weather. You've enjoyed a break from the usual routine, played a little, made some memories and had fun. That "end of vacation depression" is starting to set in because you realize it's time to start repacking all of those suitcases. You open the blinds on that final morning: lo and behold, the weather is just perfect! So you get out there and enjoy it for all it's worth. But I have to say, I'm not sure whether these "perfect" conditions make me feel more or less depressed as the clock ticks away. Well, that's the way it was for us. We enjoyed a beautiful beach day and pretty much played 'til we dropped!

Fun in the Sun

Ah, vacation. We are so blessed to be spending this week with my parents at the condo they've rented for the month in Cape Canaveral, FL. We've been keeping life simple - beach in the morning, pool in the afternoon, easy meals, playing games, and watching the wildlife (the peafowl) at our condo.

It's been two weeks now since Nathan had his first "solid" food - rice cereal. He turned 6 months last week, and I cannot believe how fast these months have gone! He's doing really well with cereal, so I'm thinking we'll branch out to other foods soon. He seems to like it, but definitely let's us know when he's had his fill.

There is a large peacock that puts on a show for us each afternoon. It's mating season, so all of the males are strutting their stuff and making extremely loud bird calls to attrack the peahens. (If you have seen the movie "Up" it's the same sound the "kevin" makes.) We've been so impressed by the beauty and extravagant design of these birds, and we praise their Creator. Clearly God has quite the imagination!

We celebrated my Dad's & Tim's birthdays with cupcakes and singing. Even Nathan was helping grandpa unwrap his present.

We've had some interesting beach experiences. Yesterday we debated whether to go to the beach or pool because of a threatening sky. Tim and Matthew just love the beach so we decided to head there. We optimistically hoped that a very large rain cloud would come ashore to our south, but instead got caught in a downpour. Nathan and I, wrapped in beach towels, were huddled under our beach umbrella. Matthew came dashing in while Tim ran around and tried to pick up things. I was shivering and vowing not to trust my husband's optimism any further, Matthew was whining, "I want to go hoooommme!" And Tim, with blue eyes twinkling, was laughing his head off and saying, "Ah, this is how memories are made!" Today was a beautiful day, we had fun making a sand turtle and other sand designs. Matthew got to help daddy help fly his first kite, and I"m sure that by now he's at least 8 shades darker than the rest of us. What a cutie!!

Nathan has been loving life in the stroller. He naps great while we play at the beach or pool as long as he has a blanky to pull over his head! What a sweetie!
