A Day with Thomas the Train

"Nana" and "Grandpa Uh-oh" gave Matthew a very memorable birthday gift ... a ride on a real Thomas the Train! On May 24th, the whole family got together for this fun event. Even though we're two weeks passed it now, Matthew continues to thank God every night when he prays. He says, "Dear God, Thank you for ride on Thomas..." then he usually goes on to thank God for kitty cats, birds, airplanes or any random assortment of things. :) His prayers often bless my heart, and it's clear that this "day with Thomas" made an impression on him. Matthew was napping in the car while we drove to the place where we were to ride Thomas. We just parked the truck and rolled the windows down when we arrived to give him more time to rest. However, with all of the exciting things around, it didn't take long for him to be awakened by a train horn. He sat up and said, "Whoa! That's loud." The horn was followed by a familiar sounding "Peep, peep!" whistle, and at the sound of it Matthew gasped and exclaimed, "That's Thomas!" Between all the parked cars, he could see a train moving in the distance. I wish I had turned the camera on to record his reaction when he saw that it was a real Thomas pulling the train. He started waving both arms frantically up and down with eyes wide while repeating, "That's Thomas! That's Thomas!"

In addition to the Big Thomas they had all sorts of train sets to play with as well as this thomas made out of legos.

Matthew and his cousin, Mr. Cool.

The power of suggestion... the little boy ahead of us in line to meet Sir Topham Hat was afraid of him. Unfortunately, the fear spread to our usually outgoing little guy.

Of course the most exciting part of the day was going for a ride on Thomas!!

Daddy and Matthew had to check out the rails and cool wheels.

One of the more exciting parts of the (very) short train ride was when we were passed by a diesel engine with passengers. (Matthew still talks about this too!)

Choo Choo!
What a fun and memorable day!
