Our CWA facilitator was hard at work travelling to various offices on our behalf today, meanwhile we had a “free” day. We met Mark & Stephanie at their hotel, and took a van up in to the mountains. It was SO NICE to ride in such a comfortable vehicle. We spent a good portion of the afternoon visiting Medeu, home of the (world’s?) highest outdoor ice skating rink, and Chimbulak, a ski resort located high in the mountains. Again we were so impressed to view the beauty of God’s creation as we took in the sights here in the “Ile-ala “mountain range.
So we’re sorta adventurous people and we decided to see how much adventure little Matthew Marat could stand. At Chimbulak we boarded a ski lift that climbed 1300 feet up the mountain side. (with him safely strapped to me inside the Ergo baby carrier, of course) We knew it was close to Matthew’s snack time, but thought he could make it up to the top and we’d give him his snack with a view … We thought wrong. About ¾ of the way up the lift, Matthew had a meltdown on the mountain. There was just no comforting him … we tried getting his snack out and feeding him on the lift. As soon as we got off at the top we fed and changed him, and then we had a happier ride down the mountain. Rule#1 with our little trooper is Don’t ever come between him and his food! New parents, so much to learn! So far, Matthew seems to forgive us.

hey guys,
sorry to be so silent through this whole thing. there are so many reasons, #1 being that there is so much to say and so little space to say it. we have been reading faithfully and i of course have been crying with every entry- but most of all always thanking God for where He has brought you on the journey. "When we can't see his plan, trust His heart." We are so happy for you, miss you and can't wait for the three of you to return. Love you!
Wow! You guys ARE adventerous. What great memories you are giving Matthew...even though he won't remember them! However, you have GREAT pictures to share with him! Still praying for you every day. Love to read how you guys are doing!

Glad to hear things are going well and you both are feeling better! It's really cool that we can all enjoy this trip with you via technology! :)
Don't worry about the new parent thing...you will adjust and learn quickly!
Enjoy the rest of your trip! We look forward to meeting him soon!

Kim and Tim, I have been praying for you! I just got home from chaperoning a 4,5,6 grade church camp in Indiana. The first thing I did was check your blog toget my first glimpse of Matthew and you all together. What a touching moment! I am praising the Lord with you and praying for your safe journey home! Conratulations! -Randi
