(Sorry about the long comments and few photos … our new hotel only has “dial up” and it takes a long time to load a picture.) In case I haven’t mentioned it yet, we are sharing this whole adoption experience with another couple from Atlanta. They deserve a whole blog post about themselves, so I won’t say much now other than we really like ‘em! We are blessed to be making these memories together, and we thank God for them. Wednesday was our last day in our sons’ birth country. Since we didn’t have any appointments that day, we did some major souvenir shopping in the morning. It is important for us to have things from Matthew’s birth country around the house, etc. We also wanted to take “the boys” to the same spot we visited earlier in the mountains. We ate at a really cool restaurant right on the river. I ordered “fried potato” looking for something easy on my stomach … and I got a plate of French fries! Oh well, they were really good – a taste of home! The restaurant was also a great spot to watch the clouds roll in on the mountains, a cow grazing, and two young boys with their fishing poles.

If you click and enlarge this photo, you’ll see a Kyrgyz yurt at the bottom. (Yurts are portable houses, like tents, that are still used today) Wow, what a beautiful country!
After enjoying beautiful sights in the Ala Archa Canyon area, we headed back to Bishkek to load up and travel across the border to Kazakhstan – it was a 5 hour ride, lasting from 7pm to 12am. Matthew took his bottle and went sound asleep in the car. He didn’t even wake up when we got out of the car in the rain, loaded up the suitcases, moved in to our hotel room, put him in his crib, etc. He sure takes his nighttime sleep seriously!!
